How to get rid of the Colorado potato beetle without chemistry?
I dilute one pack of dry mustard in a bucket of water, add 100 ml of table 9% vinegar, mix thoroughly and spray potato tops with this mixture. There are no bugs. Source: Joseph DOROFEEV
From the invasion of the Colorado potato beetle, nightshade beds will be protected by ordinary oven ash (after burning wood). Put it during planting of potatoes and seedlings of tomatoes by a pinch in each well and slightly dust the surface of the soil. Once the bushes form, without waiting for the appearance of the pest larvae, conduct a second treatment. But this time, spray the plantation with an infusion of ash (2-liter can of ash per 10 liters of water, with laundry soap added to the mixture, then dilute the “concentrate” in a ratio of 1:10).
As a “pesticide” against the pest, you can use fallen walnut leaves. Harvest them in the fall and store in a cool, dry place with good ventilation. And at the beginning of the new season, twenty days before the mass appearance of the larvae of the Colorado potato beetle, soak the leaves in water at the rate of 2-3 kg per 10 l, let it brew for 1-2 days, strain and process the garden. As a result of such spraying, up to 80 percent of insects die!
Prepare a deterrent mixture from this herb: boil elecampane roots for 15 minutes in a small amount of water, let it brew, strain and dilute in 10 liters of water. The resulting solution, process the seedlings of potatoes.
