He is known for his wit and cynicism. Mencken was also a journalist and editor. He started his career with “The Baltimore Sun” where he became a writer and editor. The column which he wrote in that paper became very famous and he had millions of readers.
He was a very keen observer of the society and he often wrote against racial injustice and suppression in general. During his lifetime he published three remarkable memoirs.
He often spoke for the freedom of the slaves in America and the black community admired his efforts. He was a very impressive orator as well and when he spoke people listened to each of his word very attentively.
